Le Salon du Macaron
French Macarons are small, sweet, meringue-based confections made with egg white, icing sugar, sugar and ground almond. The macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two biscuits. Macarons are naturally Gluten-Free.
Le Salon du Macaron is a small South Kilkenny based business. Louise Barron, owner and baker has several years experience working in restaurant kitchens where her love for food, cooking and baking was cultivated. She has long had a connection with France and some 5 years ago moved there in a bid to learn the language. It was while living in the South of France that she discovered and fell in love with French Macarons. Having returned to Ireland she despaired in not being able to find these sweet treats and so decided she would just have to make them herself. Several failed attempts later (macarons are notoriously tricky for newcomers) she had perfected her French macaron.
At the market each week Le Salon du Macaron offers a variety of high quality home made French Macarons. You can have your choice of 8 different flavours.. €1.50 each or 4 for €5.
